| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), regardless of their age and intellectual potential, have difficulties with communication and understanding, significant sensory peculiarities, and high anxiety in unfamiliar environments. As a result, they encounter major obstacles in accessing medical care. Treatment is often delayed or insufficient, with late diagnosis and access to care, sometimes leading to additional disabilities and complications for their future health. To take preventive action and avoid these situations becoming complex, healthcare familiarization consultations are a solution that allows children with autism to gradually become accustomed to medical or paramedical care. They aim to reduce the child’s anxiety and apprehension and to improve cooperation during treatment. These consultations, currently mainly carried out by institutions and specialist centers, can be developed in general medical practices so that the attending physician can monitor the health of autistic children in their patient base. |
