| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | This article explores the relations between memory and trauma, firstly by crossing the psychoanalytical approaches of Freud and Lacan with the literary works of Marcel Proust and Georges Perec. For Freud, trauma is a repressed memory that analysis can bring to the surface; for Lacan, it is an unrepresentable real, a flaw in discourse. This duality can be found in literature: Proust attempts to rediscover the past through involuntary memory, combining pain and sensory revival. Perec, for his part, exposes the impossibility of expressing the trauma of the Shoah, using fragmentary and silent writing, where lack becomes memory. The second part of the text explores the links between trauma, silence and voice, drawing on the Greek myth of Philomena, raped by Tereus, her brother-in-law. In his seminars on anxiety and ethics, Lacan analyses these situations where the subject ‘gives in to the situation’, unable to speak or negotiate with the desire of the Other. The silence is not just the absence of words, but the trace of an inner collapse. |
