| Summary, etc. | À l’époque des Lumières néohelléniques, les contacts avec l’Europe s’intensifiaient, en particulier avec la langue et l’enseignement françaises, et les traductions augmentaient considérablement. L’apprentissage des langues a été un facteur décisif à la fois pour le transfert des Lumières européennes et la traduction d’œuvres étrangères en grec. L’intermédiaire était utilisé dans les premières décennies des Lumières néohelléniques, lorsque la connaissance de langues étrangères était principalement limitée à l’italien. Pendant les dernières décennies du xviiie siècle le français sera principalement utilisé comme langue intermédiaire, tandis que les autres langues (latin, russe, allemand) ont été utilisées beaucoup moins. L’utilisation de l’intermédiaire dans l’espace grec n’a pas été très nombreuse, mais elle a joué un rôle important en ce qui concerne la culture grecque dans son contact avec les littératures étrangères qui autrement étaient inaccessibles. Un autre phénomène mentionné est l’utilisation du grec comme langue intermédiaire dans les Balkans, où l’influence de la culture grecque était intense. |

| Summary, etc. | During the Neohellenic Enlightenment, contacts with Europe intensified, especially with the French language and culture, and translations increased considerably. Language learning was a decisive factor both for the transfer of European Enlightenment and the translation of foreign works into Greek. The intermediary was used in the first decades of the Neohellenic Enlightenment, when knowledge of foreign languages was mainly limited to Italian. During the last decades of the 18th century French was mainly used as an intermediate language, while the other languages (Latin, Russian, German) were used much less. The use of the intermediary in Greek lands was not very wide, but it played an important role in Greek culture in its contact with foreign literatures which otherwise were inaccessible. Another phenomenon mentioned is the use of Greek as an intermediate language in the Balkans, where the influence of the Greek culture was intensive. |
