520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | The two elegies composed by Garcilaso have Horatian and neo-Horatian roots. For the first of the two, with a funeral theme, he insists on the consolatio of his addressee, providing the same solution as in the first of the odes analysed. For the second ode, literally imitated by Bernardo Tasso, the Toledan follows all its parts. For the second elegy, dedicated to Boscan, he establishes a contrast between the type of love he experiences and that of his friend, based on Horace and also Virgil. |
