Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Towards a new theory of handicap. Liminality as double. From an anthropological perspective, various theories about disability – sociological, political or cultural – are lacking in that they do not account for the intimate relationship between individual affects and social constructs. the theory of liminality put forward by Robert Murphy, is the best point of departure, both from the historical and topical points of view. Here, liminality will be linked with the Freudian conception of the uncanny, as developed by Simone Korff-Sausse, following the orientation given by Marcel Mauss. this encounter will take us, nevertheless, beyond each of these concepts, in order to attempt to make clear the deeper reasons for liminality and the mirror effect created by disability, via a theory of the double, as exemplified in literature. |
