520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The contribution examines the years 1683-1684 of the life and career of Amelot de La Houssaie in the light of the intense work of translation that he undertook at that time from the constitution of a corpus of four authors (Sarpi, Tacitus, Machiavelli, Gracián) confronting three vernacular languages (French, Italian and Spanish) and Latin. The study intends to show how Amelot chooses the tool of translation not to defend a political position of its own (whether it be the defense of “reasons of state” or a proto-republicanism) but to build a singular legitimacy in the use of a political knowledge that the translator would be better able to illustrate than any other scholar thanks its ability to shed light on obscure texts.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
