| Summary, etc. | Prophecies have been a primordial theme throughout the religious and political post-colonial history of Côte d’Ivoire. During the 2000s, the visibility new Pentecostal predictions, an integral part of president Laurent Gbagbo’s regime, showed that prophecies remain vital. This article studies the pro-Gbagbo Christian prophecies that flourished before, during, and even after the violent post-election crisis of 2010-2011. In particular, the author examines a new societal phenomenon represented by Malachie Koné, a pastor/prophet, and his revelations. This article situates Koné’s excessive charismaticism within the diverse and divided movement of Protestant and Evangelical Ivoirians. |
