Patriotic Apocalypse in Côte d’Ivoire

This article studies the pro-Gbagbo Christian prophecies that flourished before, during, and even after the violent post-election crisis of 2010-2011. In particular, the author examines a new societal phenomenon represented by Malachie Koné, a pastor/prophet, and his revelations. This article situates Koné’s excessive charismaticism within the diverse and divided movement of Protestant and Evangelical Ivoirians.
