| Summary, etc. | Albert Zakharovitch Manfred (1906-1976) était à l’époque le président d’honneur de la Commission internationale pour l’étude de l’histoire de la Révolution française, l’un des dirigeants de l’Association URSS-France. Le nombre de ses ouvrages traduits en français fut considérable. Toute sa vie, Manfred étudia l’histoire de France ; Albert Soboul, Marcel Reinhard, Camille-Ernest Labrousse et Robert Mandrou comptèrent parmi ses amis. Dès 1962, Manfred occupa le poste de rédacteur en chef de l’ Annuaire d’Études françaises, périodique créé à son initiative et qui paraît encore aujourd’hui. Avec l’académicien Viatcheslav Volguine, Manfred a publié les Œuvres choisies de Marat en trois volumes. Sous sa direction, et accompagnés d’une introduction conséquente de sa part, paraissent pour la première fois en russe trois volumes d’ Œuvres choisies de Maximilien Robespierre. À l'heure actuelle, Manfred, très connu en Russie, est oublié en France et les auteurs voudraient rappeler aux lecteurs français le destin de ce chercheur remarquable. |

| Summary, etc. | In Russia, the name, Albert Zakharovitch Manfred (1906-1976), is well known among historians, as well as history buffs. There was also a time when he was widely known in France. Manfred was doctor honoris causa from the University of Clermont Ferrand (1967), a member of the Centre Scientifique Italien for the study of the Napoleonic period (1969), honorary vice president, then president of the Commission Internationale for the study of the French Revolution (1975), and finally, one of the leaders of the Association URSS-France, since its foundation in 1945. A large number of his works are translated into French, many more than for any other Soviet specialist on France. But today, alas, in this France he so loved and where he often sojourned, there are only specialists of Soviet historiography who remember him. The authors of this article would like to remind French readers about this remarkable researcher, and about a man who did so much to make French culture known in the USSR. |
