520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Here we take an example from the anthropological clinical analysis of turning of the dead in Madagascar, a burial practice that is based on an economy of the psychic debt towards the dead person and that is communicated through the dream, organising the country’s financial economy that hinges on debts contracted to build the tomb and the costly organisation of turning of the dead. We reconsider how, within a philosophical and psychoanalytical perspective, the father makes possible the disposition of his memory and forgetting for his descendants, how the death of the father encounters the work involved in burial that transforms the dead person to a site of death and conceives of the demand for sublimation in its articulation with sexuality. The death of the father to whose memory the sepulture is devoted breaks away from Œdipal death wishes and accounts for the vitality of the movement, or even the mania that makes mourning an extremely lively time for affectation. |
