Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | When the Body Politic is Overcome with Panic. Exploring Civil Bonds through Transference. This article examines the metaphor of the ‘body politic, ’ a notion at the frontier of psychoanalysis and politics. Breaking down the idealisation of the body politic makes way for practices in transference which maintain a distance with the stakes at play in sovereignty and power. This distance is the psychoanalyst’s business – it is a question both of ethics and politics. The author’s own experience with patients in a writing workshop in a Parisian psychiatric unit show how it becomes possible to create bonds which are other and multiple, even within the walls of a closed institution. |
