520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Shame, lying on the border between a narcissistic and an objectal position (as distinct from notions of guilt and extreme modesty) is a very frequently encountered feeling in psychoanalytical clinical work. Shame is both a factor in the construction of otherness and a witness to the difficulty involved in such construction. While the analytical psychodrama can provide a good method of approach (as shown through some examples), tackling and treating this affect can nonetheless prove to be especially complex, involving real resistance to psychoanalysis. Its effect on the individual and on the group are such that it is essential analysts remain very much aware of it, since it requires the absolute presence of the other for one to recover from it. |
