520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. In this study, we will analyse Amnesty International’s 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2019 annual reports in their English, French and Italian versions (two strategic languages, one tactical), to show the discursive strategies deployed by Amnesty International in the different languages to affirm the need for respect for fundamental human rights and the perils that threaten their very existence in the contexts where the NGO operates. Following a general presentation of these discursive and argumentative strategies in the three languages, we will look in more detail at those used to name (or not to name, in pursuit of a strategy of generalisation, using different means depending on the language used) certain ethnic, religious and social minorities considered “vulnerable” (Abbas et al., 2019) and whose fundamental rights this organisation aims to safeguard. We therefore propose to show how these names and expressions are conveyed in the translated discourses, namely, their co-occurrences, their co-texts, their uses and possible discrepancies in meaning between the different versions of the reports.
