More specifically, it discusses alliances formed with members of the Zaghawa-Darfurian ethnic community, with a special focus on economic matters. I argue that changes in the alliance—produced by the Islamists’ rise to power—explain why different groups within the Zaghawa ethnic community now support the rebellion in Darfur. |
