| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’expérience de la ville nouvelle du Vaudreuil a été retenue comme un échec : cet ambitieux projet d’une ville nouvelle de 100 000 habitants située à 100 kilomètres de Paris et 25 de Rouen, qui devait être à la fois une « opération témoin d’urbanisme et d’architecture modernes » et une « ville pilote pour l’environnement », n’a en effet donné naissance qu’à une petite commune de 13 500 habitants, ayant pris le nom de Val-de-Reuil en 1995. Cet article cherche à corriger cette interprétation à travers l’expérience dite de « l’Atelier de Montrouge », équipe d’architectes étroitement impliquée dans le projet de la ville nouvelle pendant près de vingt ans (1959-1978). Cette micro-histoire révèle le temps long des idées architecturales et urbaines, ses fondements théoriques et les modalités privilégiées pour sa mise en œuvre. |

| Summary, etc. | The experience of the new town of Le Vaudreuil has been lived as a failure : this ambitious project of building a new town of 100 000 inhabitants 100 kilometers away from Paris and 25 from Rouen was to be both a « test operation of modern town planning and architecture » and a « pilot town for the environment », but it only gave rise to a small commune of 13 500 inhabitants named Val-de-Reuil in 1995. On the basis of the experience of the so-called « Atelier de Montrouge », a group of architects deeply involved in the new town project for nearly twenty years (1959-1978), we try to correct this interpretation. This micro-history reveals the long gestation of architectural and urban ideas, their theoretical foundations and the privileged modalities of their realization. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungDie Erfahrung der neuen Stadt Le Vaudreuil wurde als einen Fehlschlag empfunden : dieses ambitiöse Projekt einer Stadtgründung von 100 000 Bewohnern, die 100 Kilometer von Paris und 25 von Rouen entfernt war und zugleich ein « Muster moderner Stadtplanung und Architektur » und eine « Musterstadt für die Umwelt » sein sollte, führte nur zu der Entstehung einer kleinen Gemeinde von 13 500 Bewohnern, die 1995 den Namen Val-de-Reuil erhielt. Ausgehend von der Erfahrung des sogenannten « Atelier de Montrouge », einer Gruppe von Architekten, die sich während fast zwangig Jahre (1959-1978) mit diesem Projekt beschäftigten, versuchen wir, diese Interpretation zu korrigieren. Diese Mikrogeschichte unterstreicht den langen Reifungsprozess der Gedanken in Architektur- und Stadtsachen, ihre theoretische Gründungen und die bevorzugten Modalitäten ihrer Anwendungen. |
