520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Between the dying of mankind heralded by Michel Foucault and Martin Heidegger’s Letter on Humanism, defining this concept is not straight-forward. In order to understand the reason why this concept has lost its original signification, it may be necessary to further detail the major features of humanism from antiquity to the age of Enlightenment. With the rise ( Ereignis according to Heidegger) of the social sciences in the 19th century that initiated structuralism as a main stream in applying the linguistic paradigm (often called “linguistic turn”) to these sciences, the definition of human being that the philosophy put forward since the Cartesian period turned out to be obsolete and the obligation for asking again this question arose: To be a human being, what does it mean ? However, does the new meaning of human being justify the process of dehumanization inflicted on him with some kind of power? The human dignity sometimes scorned within the organisations must be recovered in the framework of a revitalized humanism. The practical part of this paper is inspired with my professional career track as a manager within international manufacturing companies (MNEs) often leader in their specific field of activity.
