| Summary, etc. | Les faits de discours traités ailleurs en termes d’attentes ou de projections sont décrits ici comme reposant sur l’existence de relations de dépendance de deux ordres : implications d’occurrences entre signes et contraintes pragmatiques de pertinence liant énonciations et états du savoir partagé. L’interprétation de ces relations se fait en deux étapes : (i) l’actualisation du terme dépendant a pour effet d’inscrire dans le savoir partagé (ou mémoire discursive) une variable d’un certain type dont il dépend ; (ii) l’actualisation du second terme y verse ensuite une valeur particulière, qui peut être attribuée à la variable via une opération logique d’unification. Ce mécanisme « variable provisoire, puis unification » est illustré par des suites qui contiennent une insertion parenthétique. Celle-ci vient dissocier les deux étapes du processus, entraînant parfois des perturbations de la seconde. |

| Summary, etc. | Discourse processes treated elsewhere in terms of expectations or projections are here described as based on the existence of two types of dependency relations: occurrences implications between signs, and pragmatic relevance constraints binding utterances and shared-knowledge states. The interpretation of these relations occurs in two steps: (i) the realization of the dependent term leads to the inscription in the shared knowledge (or discourse memory) of a certain type of variable on which it depends; (ii) the realization of the second term sheds then a specific value that can be assigned to the variable through a logical operation called unification. The mechanism “provisional variable then unification” is illustrated by sequences that contain a parenthetical clause. The latter dissociates the different steps of the process, sometimes causing disfluencies in the second part. |
