520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This article tackles the properties of the analogical relationship “A is to B as C is to D” in its linguistic expressions like Wisdom is to the soul as health is to the body, which enable us to promote the idea that the four-term analogical relationship is the very base of the metaphor and of the two- or three-term comparison, which could be considered its elliptical forms. The proposed argument is the fact that, as Aristotle said, the analogical formula does not make the interpretative solution of the elliptic forms explicit, but it needs, just like them, an inductive process to find the similarity relationship between two entities of different categories. |
