Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | From the nineteenth century, the machine is dreaming of a society where nobody lacks anything, where automation makes work less painful and removes the most servile tasks. This world, imagined by Andrew Ure in the 1830s and by Norbert Wiener in the 1950s, is not that of the capitalist organization of work, where the Human-machine is destined to be an efficient wheel, condemned to work ever more quickly in the respect of the procedures. Thus, the Human-machine contains promises of abundance, but also engages mechanisms of knowledge and power, and another promise stated by Foucault, that of the erasure of humanity, when the mechanization of beings does not concern not only their bodies but their decisions. |
