Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | How does the narrative of the Bible – and primarily that of the Pentateuch – represent the connection between justice and mercy in God’s character ? Starting in Ex 20,5-6, in the self-revelation which God gives on Sinai, this study tracks the divine attributes in their successive reformulations by God himself in Ex 34 and by Moses in Nb 14, Dt 5 and 7. The remarkable phenomenon is the divine reversibility from one attribute to another and especially the manner in which God passes from his justice to his mercy in a “repentance” which Jonah denounces and which will be, by contrast, the most personal locus of Jesus. |
