Car il était « mnémon », « celui qui se souvient, qui doit emmagasiner dans sa tête tout le savoir permettant que chacun connaisse son identité » (J.-P. Vernant). Le suicide ou l’infanticide lui donnaient ainsi accès au monde des ancêtres et permettaient de participer de nouveau à la vie de la communauté dont il avait été arraché. |
