Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The “Lost Generation” of the Interwar period, the one of Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Dos Passos or Gertrude Stein is well known. What people may not know is that, in the afterwar, some American writers, who where exiled in Europe and in France, were regarding themselves as a “New Lost Generation”, according to James Baldwin. This is precisely this writer we want to deal with, throughout a document which reflects his experience of exile in the context of Cold War. By showing the links between culture and identity, but also culture and power, this document portrays James Baldwin expressing himself as a writer, a black man and an American. |
