520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The cladodes of Opuntia ficus-indica are widely consumed in the world, and appreciated for their beneficial effects. The present work aims to study the phytochemical profile and to evaluate the antibacterial potential of methanolic extract of O. ficus-indica. Antibacterial effect was carried out using agar disk diffusion and determination of minimum inhibitory concentration. The quantitative estimation showed that O. ficus-indica were rich in polyphenols which the predominant part is represented by flavonoids (11.86 ± 0.10 mg QE/g) and condensed tannins (6.45 ± 0.22 mg CE/g). Results demonstrated clearly that O. ficus-indica extract presented an interessant antibacterial potential against positive and negative strains. It was manifested by inhibition diameters ranged from 9 to 18 mm. As second parameter, minimum inhibitory concentration was recorded as 100 mg/ml for S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. O. ficus-indica extracts can be presented as a potential source of antimicrobials against infectious agents.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
