| Summary, etc. | This paper opens with a short presentation of the tensions between political activism and poetical modernism in American poetry from the mid 1920’s until the late 80’s. The paper then highlights an essential part of Susan Howe’s work in order to study the difficult relationships between poetical experimentation, political radicalism and the interpretations of the puritan origins of the national history in the American poetry of the second half of the XXth century. |
