Ce qui le distingue des mouvements identificatoires observables au sein des groupes humains est la radicalité quelquefois mutilante avec laquelle il traite le surmoi-idéal du moi ou plutôt ce qui en tenait lieu chez les membres du groupe avant qu’il se constitue. Freud s’est un moment questionné sur la nécessité de l’hypocrisie comme condition de la civilisation et nous tâcherons avec l’aide de Tocqueville d’éclairer sa réflexion énigmatique sur la « misère psychologique de la masse ». |
