520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. On May 14th, 1643, Louis XIII, king of France, died.A few days later and before the burial, the young Louis XIV of France and his mother Anne of Austria came to Paris and took symbolic power, in a break with funeral rites. Indeed, this death brought about difference of opinion regarding the political representation to be given to the king’s funeral. On the one hand,Louis XIIIimagined himself at the end of his life as a simple Christian, therefore his wish to organise simple funeral. On the other hand, the monarchy needed symbolic representation, showy ceremonies to solidify the Crown. The death of the king meant his departure for a heavenly world, where he can protect his former kingdom and his people.Royal religion was then fully transferred to the young king as a necessary condition for his own influence. The late king did not only cease to exist,he faded from memory,a dual death that guarantied the glory of the new king.
