520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Can children have a “foreign culture”?If a child is not to fall into brutal satisfaction of all impulses, he must learn to renounce them. For this to be possible, it must bring new satisfactions in the form of social and personal recognition. If social law is not capable of guaranteeing this recognition, he will seek to be valued in a higher authority. This symbolic law will be contained in the most rigid kind of religious practices, those that segregate instead of integrating. France’s refusal to integrate French Muslims into citizenship rejects them and their children into this kind of community. |
