| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’article propose une classification des verbes français qui prend en compte leurs propriétés syntaxiques définitoires ainsi qu’un grand nombre d’éléments nécessaires à leur interprétation sémantique à partir de quatre propriétés de la relation du verbe à ses arguments : le degré de combinabilité, le degré d’ appropriation, le degré de grammaticalisation et le degré de figement. Les six classes ainsi obtenues : verbes opérateurs, génériques, distributionnels, supports (dont l’auteur fournit une liste) , auxiliaires et figés, sont de taille et de fonction très inégales mais préfigurent par leur cohérence et leur hiérarchie la forme générale de la grammaire du français. |

| Summary, etc. | French verbs are classified, in this paper, into six asymmetrical, hierarchically organized classes, taking into account their defining syntactic properties as well as a fairly large number of elements necessary for their semantic interpretation. This is done on the basis of four properties of the relation between the verb and its arguments : the degree of free combination, the degree of likelihood, the degree of grammaticalization and the degree of petrification. The six verb classes thus obtained are : operational, generic, distributional, support – or « light » (a list is drawn up by the author) – auxiliary and set (or idiomatic). The six are of unequal size and function, but prefigure, in their consistency and hierarchy, the general shape of French grammar. |
