After noting that Cornelius Castoriadis is rarely cited as a reference in the discipline of education and teacher training, this article sets out to present a few ways of understanding why this author is so little known. We then review a number of Castoriadis’ positions on education in relation to psychoanalysis, based on the text Psychoanalysis and Politics. This highlights the heuristic power of Castoriadis’ contributions to the field of institutional pedagogy (Vasquez, Oury, 1967). The objectives of emancipation and social transformation pursued by the latter are thus brought into line with Castoriadis’ thinking and the links he weaves between psychoanalysis, politics and education.

Après avoir constaté que Cornelius Castoriadis était peu convoqué comme référence dans la discipline des sciences de l’éducation et de la formation, cet article s’attache à présenter quelques pistes de compréhension de la faible audience de cet auteur. Nous reprenons ensuite un certain nombre des positions de Cornelius Castoriadis vis-à-vis de l’éducation en lien avec la psychanalyse et en nous appuyant sur le texte « Psychanalyse et politique ». Cela permet de souligner la puissance heuristique des apports de Castoriadis dans le champ de la pédagogie institutionnelle (Vasquez, Oury, 1967). Les objectifs d’émancipation et de transformation sociale portés par cette dernière sont ainsi mis en résonance avec la pensée de Castoriadis et les liens qu’il tisse entre psychanalyse, politique et éducation.
