Rights and aspi-rations. . . . On Josef Schovanec’s book Je suis à l’Est!

On the basis of the testimony of Josef Schovanec, who describes himself as a “scientist and an autistic person,” the author tries to take the key ideas that, due to their great significance, enable the decoupling of autism from a conception of pure deficit and disability, as well as a conception of pure disease, while addressing many preconceived ideas concerning, for example, the lack of humor of autistic people or the toxicity of psychoanalysis. We once again place the focus on the real issues: the rights and aspirations of people with autism, rather than parochial squabbles.
