PRÉAUT classroom workshops are a French model of care combining pedagogy and care in the area of autistic disorders. They have produced good results in France, but can this therapeutic approach to autism work in other cultural contexts? The setting up of classroom workshops in Abidjan, through a number of meetings, presented the opportunity for multiple reflections for the Ivorian team and for the various parties involved. The culture and the perception of autism are incorporated into care, the adults are engaged in various ways, the method is put to the test, and the children being cared for change over varying amounts of time. In this article, the authors offer an account of the transplantation of the classroom workshops and the first results obtained in Côte d’Ivoire.
