Drives or cognition: A two-pronged approach to the treatment of children with ASD?
Type de matériel :
46
During psychoanalytical treatment of children with ASD, the author realized that the cognitive capacities of these children were less affected than their relational capacities by the developmental disturbance. Drawing on Piaget’s cognitive psychology as well as on the results of recent neuroscientific research, the author proposes that a cognitive approach, offered simultaneously with psychotherapy from the beginning of treatment, could improve the child’s ability to build intersubjective relationships.
