Participative pricing and socially responsible consumption: The implementation of the “Name Your Own Price” model in a repurposing shop

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2019. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This study relates to the implementation of the Name Your Own Price (NYOP) mechanism in a repurposing shop. The principle is as follows: the buyer sets an initial offer that is accepted if it is above a threshold price set by the seller but unknown to buyers. This mechanism that gives customers pricing power allows a large number of people to pay according to their means. The purpose of this study is to assess the way buyers set their price in a socially responsible consumption (SRC) situation. Our results show that the buyers respect the prices suggested by the seller. However, the SRC situation doesn’t lead buyers to set higher prices. They also tend to pay a lower proportion of their reference price for higher-valued items than for lower-valued ones.
