In this article we analyze the role of dialogic cultural devices in the development of information literacy. We present results of an ethnographic study of attitudinal knowledge formation among young people and children. The concepts of information, knowledge and attitude are defined through reference to practices observed during a “Learning to research” program in Sao Paolo. The dialogic cultural device can be considered as an instance of cultural mediation, allowing for the creation and recreation of signs. Such dialogic devices act upon the relations between libraries, research practices and the construction of attitudinal knowledge among children.
