It recalls the electoral system that came into force in 2005, considers the organization of electoral supply, analyzes the results of this election, and proposes a hypothesis in order to explain it. The global outcome of this election was a clear victory of the right-wing coalition, a consolidation of the two main Italian parties (PD and PDL), a major increase in the Northern League vote, a fall for the radical left, and a dramatic simplification of the Italian political landscape overall.
