Court cases constitute ideal scenarios for the cinema. But all industrial, scientific or documentary films are works of fiction, in which the producer imposes his own vision of the facts, consciously or unconsciously. With the development of the first cinematographers, Méliès and Pathé, cinematographic censorship very soon made its appearance. Denouncing injustice, filming death live, looking horror in the face, all these images can be seen as either fear or seduction of society, as evidence or testimony, as spectacle or remembrance.
