In addition to the translations and adaptations of Lucian’s work, several texts from the 16th and 17th centuries prove to be inspired by this dialogue: from the Crotalón to Locuras de Europa by Saavedra Fajardo, through to Lope de Vega’s La Arcadia, Cervantes’s Quijote, the satires of Leonardo de Argensola or El diablo cojuelo y Vélez de Guevara. In these works, we can find structural parallels, themes and a satirical tone that refer to Lucian’s work.
