Debate on Teaching History in Japan

Since 1982, a debate on the modern era in History textbooks has opposed Japan, China and Korea. In order to grasp the current condition of the teaching of history in Japan, this paper will present these debates firstly within Japan up to the postwar period, then will analyze Japanese textbooks without restricting itself to the far Right, whose influence must be put into perspective, or to middle school.
