By redefining professional requirements, by reconsidering the methods of evaluation, and by giving autonomy to healthcare professionals, it appears possible to let the logic of gift develop within health organizations. The development of a spirit of gift giving in a work environment presupposes a process in which the following appear successively and dialectically: the employer's prescription, the liberty of the operator, the gift of self, the transaction, and duty.
