This article analyzes the notion of emergence in the context of socio-technical learning devices. From the perspective of a socio-constructivist approach, learning cannot be considered the product of a transmission, the result of behavioral conditioning, or the mechanistic result of different components. It is an emergent process of interactions socially situated in an environment, which not only affects the individual and collective elaboration of knowledge, but first and foremost the changes in the relationship between these individuals or groups and knowledge. Ten guidelines will be introduced and illustrated using training situations, which should assist in designing and implementing training environments.
