From studio to museum, from garbage to collection

This article focuses on French museums’ recent interest in items that document the creative processes of graphic designers, in other words, archival elements from their studios. The new aesthetic value they have been given invites us to look back at how they were first placed in museums, and to question the “artwork” status accorded to these work-in-progress objects.
