Comment l’antique sagesse d’Israël pourrait-elle aider à penser les préoccupations écologiques contemporaines ? Pour répondre à cette question, il est nécessaire de prendre en compte la pluralité du texte biblique et de questionner le présupposé de sa perspective anthropocentrique. Pour le dire autrement, il importe de vérifier si la littérature biblique de sagesse permet de dépasser l’opposition entre anthropocentrisme et cosmocentrisme. Mais le texte biblique n’étant pas naïf et ne masquant rien des errements de l’humanité, il conviendra tout autant de cerner de quelle manière il avertit des conséquences que peut engendrer l’activité humaine quand elle exploite la création à son profit. En définitive, il s’agit de regarder en quoi la Bible peut aider à penser comment habiter le présent sans se divertir des enjeux écologiques.

How could the ancient Israel’s wisdom help envision contemporary ecological concerns ? To answer this question, it is necessary to take into account the plurality of the biblical text and to question the presupposition of its anthropocentric prospect. In other words, it is important to check if biblical wisdom literature permits going beyond the opposition between anthropocentrism and cosmocentrism. But the biblical text, not being naïve and not concealing anything of the errors of the humanity, it would be also advisable to identify how it warns about the consequences the human activity can generate when exploiting the creation in its sole benefit. Finally, the question is to look if the Bible can help us to think how living the present time without ignoring the environmental issues.
