RésuméCet article explore la mutation sociologique des cadres dirigeants au sein des banques d’affaires Lazard Frères et Rothschild & Cie. En utilisant des entretiens semi-directifs, il est d’abord mis en évidence une transformation du métier de banquier d’affaires, évoluant d’un statut d’« artisan » vers celui d’un manager de finance. Grâce à l’analyse de données prosopographiques, l’article met ensuite en lumière une mutation de la sociologie des cadres dirigeants de ces deux banques, soulignant ainsi l’impact de la transformation du métier.

This article explores the sociological transformation of senior executives within the investment banks Lazard Frères and Rothschild & Cie. Utilizing semi-structured interviews, it first highlights a transformation in the role of investment bankers, evolving from a ’craftsman’ status to that of a finance manager. Through prosopographic data analysis, the article subsequently sheds light on a shift in the sociology of senior executives in these two banks, thereby highlighting the impact of the occupational transformation.
